![]() Osteopathy & Cranial OsteopathyOsteopathy is an effective treatment approach that restores patient health with an emphasis on body biomechanics. As the muscles and skeleton comprise 60% of the human body, injury and disease are reflected in the musculoskeletal system. Osteopathic & Cranial adjustments treat the whole body via the spine, joints, muscles, ligaments, connective tissue (fascia) and cranial system to restore health. Osteopathy is compatible with modern conventional medicine and is recognised as an established system of assessment, diagnosis and treatment. It acknowledges that there is a unique inter-relationship between the structure and function of the body and treatment must reflect that. The osteopathic approach recognizes that pain and disability, can stem from abnormalities in the function of the body's structure and the damage caused to it by disease and injury. Osteopathy is relevant to a wide range of health:- Registered Osteopaths treat more than 7 million people each year in the UK, making the profession a major provider of primary healthcare. The World Health Organisation recognises the Osteopathic concept of somatic (bodily) dysfunction, as being scientifically proven. The British Medical Association recognises Osteopathy as a discrete medical discipline. In the UK Osteopaths are statutorily registered practitioners, who have trained in anatomy, physiology, pathology and general medical diagnosis and Osteopathic technique. Osteopaths are also trained to recognise conditions that require medical referral and are trained to carry out standard medical examinations of the cardiovascular, respiratory and nervous systems. All treatments include a comprehensive examination, assessment and diagnosis of injury or dysfunction. Treatments address the; neurological, musculo-skeletal, cranial, visceral, circulatory, lympathic and connective tissue (fascial) systems. Examples of conditions treated include:- Osteopathy is an accepted medical therapeutic approach, which is recognised by the UK Department of Health and the World Health Organisation.
